Save Us From the Alligators!!

Today students created a covenant, started an engineering notebook, and saved animals from alligators using the Engineering Design Process. Two engineering explorers explained to us that the animals needed  safe haven from these large-jawed creatures. The explorers, India and Jacob, explain the problem and challenge us to create unique solutions.

Once the students understood the problem, they were given constraints. The tower of power had to be at least 10 inches tall. They could only use one foot of tape. The tower had to hold the animal for 10 seconds. Students brainstormed plan ideas and drew a plan.

Then we built our towers.

We shared and tested our designs in a gallery walk at the end of the challenge.
